Another Victorian Lockdown *Sigh*. What can you do to keep mentally healthy through this time?
If you are like me and feel down, unmotivated and out this is perfectly normal during a lockdown. They are unnatural to us humans and something that after this pandemic we hopefully never have to experience again. It is tough because we need to force ourselves to find a purpose for each and every day. Some people have kids to home school, others can work from home and if you are a casual worker like myself there isn’t much we can do! So, we need to find it.
What I recommend-
Planning-The night before each day set yourself a plan for the next day. You can set yourself tasks for each hour to make sure you are keeping yourself busy. Goals are also a good guide to ensure you have something to complete for the day. By completing tasks and goals this gives off a nice little endorphin hit.
Exercise- Each day rain, hail or shine get yourself outside in the fresh air for a walk/ run/cycle. A change of scenery is good for the sanity and the exercise will again give off a good endorphin hit.
Do something enjoyable each day- Make time each day to do something that you enjoy. For me I like being outside and, in the garden, looking after the lawn and plants we have. Some other examples are listening to music, draw a picture, paint, cook, anything that will occupy your time and keep you busy!
Learn a new skill- If there is something that you have always wanted to try and learn now is the time. Remember practice makes perfect and there is plenty of time to practice.
Like I said, this time is tough and getting through each day is an achievement in itself. Be kind to yourself and look out for each other. If you need any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact the page and we will be there to support you in any way we can. We are all in this together!
