Goals Goals Goals! And we aren’t talking about the footy ones! We are talking about the opportunity to sit down and change the way you approach life! By fully committing to goal setting, you are 42% more chance to achieve then someone who doesn’t. They are pretty good odds! So why should you be writing your goals down?
- Gives you direction
By writing down your goals you are given a clear path to follow. By planning your goals, it becomes less overwhelming when trying to achieve them.
- Helps you focus on the important things
We are constantly being distracted by information that is literally at our fingertips. By having goals, we can filter through what is important for the journey we are on.
- Helps you build self-belief
By making progress towards and achieving our goals we can start believing that we can achieve anything!
- Increases your odds of success
What do successful people do? They write down their goals and achieve them, so why shouldn’t we?
- Motivates you to be your best self
By progressing and achieving our goals we are stepping out of our comfort zone into the growth area. Here we can become the best versions of ourselves.
The way that we write down our goals is also so important, we want them to be SMART goals. What does this mean? Your goals should be:
S- Specific: Goals that are vague won’t work! Try to be as specific and to the point as much as possible.
M- Measurable: How can you measure your goal? What is the outcome you are looking for?
A- Attainable: Make sure your goal is realistic. You probably won’t earn a billion dollars next year…
R- Relevant: Ensure that you actually want to achieve this goal and it matches your values as well as who you are
T- Timely: Give a time frame that is realistic for your goal.
The best resource that I have found for the writing of goals is the “Goal Digger Planner”. This easy-to-use journal takes you through step by step the best ways to write your goals down. It looks at long term goals, short term goals and weekly goals. This journal is a winner and the one that I use daily.
The best part of goal setting is achieving and making your aspirations a reality! We wish you all the best!
